T27 2010 Avensis - Hard to engage 1st

Hi,

2010 2.2 diesel avensis estate, manual transmission. 

I very often find it very hard to find reverse when I start my car, unless I go to 1st and 2nd and then reverse, it works fine then. 

Any ideas what may be causing this?

I had same issue 12 avensis I put small hole in gear gather used wd40 no problem since
