AC just aint coolio

so i am now the proud owner of an 11plate 2.2, everything works as it should except the AC. my first thought was that a regas was needed but having looked a bit deeper iam

not now convinced. i cant hear the clutch energize and the rpm's dont drop when the AC button is pressed, so i assume pump is not running.

i have read various posts on relay's and fuses etc but tbh became hard work trying to work out what does what. could someone please point me in the right direction please

The pump won't run if it is low on gas.

There is a pressure switch built into the AC system that prevents the AC Compressor from turning on due to low gas pressure to prevent the compressor not being lubricated and seizing.

I would highly recommend you using a dedicated AC specialist. I found a lot of local garage, just had the basic machine and gas leaked out shortly after! I used Cool Car. They diagnosed the condenser was leaking and the cost was £30 for the service. They run as a franchise.

I replaced the condenser and then had it. evacuated, pressure tested, correct compressor oil added and re gassed. This was on a 2006 Lexus IS220D. Shortly after scrapped as head gasket went.

so i have someone coming my way on tuesday, pressure, leak tests etc. hopefully just a service and no parts required.

iam on my only holiday of the year and i want it working, i have a week so its a 50/50
