Luggage area cover has gap on 2020 Touring Hybrid

When I fully extend the luggage area cover there is a one inch gap between that and the cover and the small cover that clips in to the tailgate. This is enough space for someone to look what is under the cover. 
 

is this normal and is there a better way to cover everything in the luggage area?

I think it’s normal. Certainly a gap on mine, although with tinted rear screen you have to look hard to see what’s in there
