URGENT Going away need help ....Confused.com Roof Bars

Hi Guys

just purchased a 2018 old shape Petrol Hybrid Rav 4.

On the roof there are some slots and am not sure what these are for.

Are they just for Roof rails to then attach roof bars to or can you but roof bars to slot into these holes without having to buy roof rails?

I have contacted roof box companies and they all seem to agree that if i dont have roof rails i need a system that goes under the door.

So are these holes just for roof rails and why ar ethey so much money.,

I have a different model but the 2 slots on each side of my roof are for the support sections of the roof bars. They slot in and then there is a threaded bolt that bolts through the supports into the car roof.

On my previous RAV I opted to have the roof rails fitted as they were not a standard fit. They attached to the slots on the roof as Ernie said.You could get roof rails but that’s an added expense.
