Redline - Warning Lights

Just bought a 92 MR2 GT, and I noticed when I rev it to near the redline, all (or at least a few of) the warning lights come on, and go back off when I reduce the revs. Is this a built-in warning or is something bad going on?

Thanks,

Grant

Hi, i had exactly the same problem with my mk1. At 6.5k rpm the lights would come on. Eventually the lights will come on and stay on, the problem is the IC Regulator in the alternator. Replace it and the problem will go away. I got a regualtor from the scrap yard but they only cost 20-30 quid i think.

One check you can do is check the voltage across the Battery terminals with the engine running, if its high then its the regualtor.

This is correct...mine did this a couple of times shortly before my Alternator packed in...once it was replaced its never done it again..
