Inlet Manifold

hi,

ive bought a inlet manifold for my 1.6 e12 corolla because on the old one a baffle has come loose and makes a loud vibrating noise when the engine is running.

I was wondering how hard it it to change, or will i have to take it to a garage?

Thanks

Fairly straight forwards so long as you're half way competent with a spanner.

Take off the plastic head cover to start with. Undo the Jubillee clip and pull the intake pipe off the throttle body. Undo the throttle body bolts holding it to the intake manifold. I'd try and leave the water hoses attached to the throttle body otherwise it's likely to get messy.

Undo the 5 nuts/bolts holding the intake to the head and the one holding it to the block and move the loom brackets out of the way. Pull the manifold away and when you've some play remove the vent hoses from the back (make a note of which go where before removing.

Reverse to put back together.

Most important thing is make sure you don't drop anything into the ports or manifold during fitting. It'll get dragged into the bores and wreck the engine
