Carina E Squeling Like A Pig From The Powersteering

Really only happens when I start her from cold and give the steering a couple of turns to get her out of the driveway. The sound would remind you of the days of fan belt slipping. Is this my power steering belt pump can anyone tell me please

sounds like the drive belt for the pump. Just treat it like a fan belt. Check the tension on it and adjust as necessary.

Obviously replace the belt if it's showing any sign of wear/damage.

There's a thread somewhere in TOC about pouring cola on squeaky belts that's supposed to work - but I can't remember where I read it.

When you turn the steering full-lock the pump is having to work at maximim output. Therefore the effort required to drive the pulley wheel is at its greatest. If the belt is slack or worn there is likely to be some slippage resulting in the squeel you describe.

My power steering pump makes noises on full lock - but it always has and has never gotten any worse. However it isn't akin to an 'alternator squeel' so I've left well alone.
