Knocking Noise

Hi i have a estima emina 2.2 diesel 1993 and when i turn a sharpish corner (left or right) i get a knocking noise

whould this be the wheel bearings?

They're FWD right? In which case more likely to be CV joint(s) I would think.

Wheel bearings tend to rumble rather than knock, and often the noise is worse when travelling in a straight line; when you turn the bearing gets a sideways loading which can tighten it up and stop, or at least reduce, the noise.

I think CV joints click more than knock when they are worn.

At first perhaps, but as they get more worn they can knock quite loudly - though I guess it depends what angle they're turned at and how much power is going through them.

RWD unless 4x4....

Oh, thanks; I wasn't sure and Wikipedia was no help apart from mentioning the 4WD version, so guessed they were probably FWD on the whole.

That would probably discount the CV joint then ;D

The company I work for sell a lot of the front CV joints for the 4WD versions so I wouldn't discount it....unless of course it's the 2WD version! :ermm:
