Right then just gauging interest in this  I thought it would be a good meet up for TOC.

Its a new race series for japanese motors, a few of the guys that were in Time attack

have moved over to race in it this year.

Plus a few from the mr2 challenge are taking part too.

Take a look here

NIPPON CHALLENGE

There are 2 rounds at Mallory Park MALLORY

i'll be going along as its local :D

And was thinking we could meet up breakfast in the track [ for those that like a fry up ]

spend the day watching the racing, then maybe food at the local pub right outside the track.

Anybody else fancy this ?

Its about time we midland members got ourselves some meets sorted :meet:

Yes Steve it is

I was thinking that we could meet up outside Mallory and short convoy there,

as there are some great roads outside.

We could have a spirited drive there

That's a lot closer than any of the Toyota Sprint Series. Might be up for this one Kim even though it is the week after we get back from our holidays :yahoo:

Looking at the Mallory circuit calendar it looks like a two day event (Sunday and Monday 25th & 26th May)

That is the late May bank holiday..................maybe a time to try out the tent? ;) ............or a nearby B& B /hotel?

I can't find any mention of Nippon Challenge on Mallory Calender. This is what they have for May 25th & 26th 2008

Moto X

.

Classic Sports Car Championship Races - A great weekend of racing for the Classics of the 60’s & 70’s,Big Jags, MR2’s & more

I must be missing something :(

Hmm, I guess it could be running alongside the BRSCC event; neither event would consume a whole wekend's track time.

But it is strange that there's no mention of the Nippon Challenge on there.

I can't see any mention on the Mallory site for the August round which is mentioned on the Nippon Challenge site.

 Its Mallory park

so dont worry about it guys, i used to spend every sunday there watching the car racing.

its a very relaxed race track to say the least

My guess is it is running as part of the package.

They usually quailfy on the morning and race on the afternoon, races start about 1pm usually,

they run 10 to 15 lap races.

I will get it confimed nearer the time though, as i know someone who is taking part in the nippon challenge

Steve,

i have been reading over on another forum i use that there are a few different cars entered so far,

inc a Nismo 350z, Impreza turbo, mr2 Mk2, mr2 turbos,mr2 mk1 supercharger,

gt4, Honda Integras,RX7s, CRX & del sol, and 27 mazda mx5s!!

The MX5s are using the race as a basis for their own race series.

The Mallory round will also have more cars than the ones above, as a few are aiming to join by then.

Sounds like a good mix of cars so far :D

Nearer the time i will add any info you need.

  • 3 weeks later...

just thought i would remind everyone this is next sunday 25th may.

There is a healthy looking grid so far, although a couple have backed out for mallory

as its such a tight track, if you go off you usually hit something :shutit:

i am still up for going, although i will update nearer the day,

As it really does depend on the weather.

Races do get stopped due to heavy rain,so we will watch the weather forcast nearer the time.

Sunshine and showers would be ok its just rain all day that would ruin it :(

Yep, I'm quite keen to go to this one if the weather's OK.

This is this Sunday.

I'm still planning on being there; it looks like it will be a great day out.

 ok then i am not going to arrange meeting anyone incase i dont go,

As the weather forecast is heavy rain :(

i hope to be there but it will be a case of waking up sunday and checking the weather ;)

I went to Japfest last saturday, and it stayed dry & they had forecast rain then too

so you never know.

If the rain does ruin this one, the nippon challenge is back racing at Mallory on 25th August.

Just seen the weather forcast for Sunday on TV....................... might just have to give this meet a miss as it will not be the same with heavy rain spoiling the track action.

I will make my final decision in the morning, but as Kim has said I will not make any arrangements to meet anyone.

If I do go I will take the TOC banner so look out for it and come and say hello

I don't think I'm going to go; I don't feel like taking the risk with the weather.

I hope it does stay dry for anyone who is going.

To those of you who do brave the rain and wind ..........................Enjoy your day

 same as you steve, have woken up to heavy rain :crybaby:

so i will not be going today, as mallory has no where to shelter to view the track,

it has no grandstands, i could park the car and watch from that but been there done that

its no fun ;)

so see you all at mallory in August
