Tns 300 Sat Nav

Hi, probably bit of a silly one this (but i'm a bit of a perfectionist!)

I have a 2005 Avensis T3-S with the TNS 300 Sat Nav. I have recently noticed that the digital compass in the display doesn't point North - well it does if i'm driving on a North / South road but, when i'm travelling East / West the compass points South!

I had the car in at the dealer today for the steering column shaft replacement (that's another story) and i asked them to have a look at the Sat Nav system.

When i went to pick the car up tonight, i was told that they had compared the compass to a couple of other cars and could find no fault. As soon as i left the dealer, i headed East and guess what, yeh the compass pointed South.

Has anyone experiened this problem and if so, any idea how to sort it. I thought there might be some trick in re-setting the Sat Nav as i know that computers can get confused and the normal procedure is to 'pull the plug'. I have thought of just disconecting the Battery.

Cheers.

Hey

If you have a voice command availble in it you can try to use "map direction" command and that should change a view so than you always see yourself on the map like you drive from bottom to the top irespective to north(north can be on your left or right but you see map and you heading from bottom to the top).If you use "north up mode" or "north map" command than you always see yourself accordigng to north(if you heading south you will see yourself on the map heading from top to bottom).

I have got 2003 and colour one and that how it is working in mine.

Hopfully it wil help a bit.

Hi Woj

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, my version of the TNS 300 doesn't have voice command. Was speaking to a mate of mine tonight who's a mechanic. He's said that he has a pal that might know the answer - apparantly this used to be a common problem with Saab's so he said he would ask him if he knew a fix.

Cheers

Andy

  • 5 weeks later...

It's possible that I've missunderstood the problem, but you can switch between the to map-modes by pressing the compass needle on your toutch screen.

Just a thought.

Tommy

EDIT;

Sorry, I've got the TNS 700 I believe so then it might be different with mine... My bad ;)
