Cd Player Is Not Loading

Problem : My Cd player refuses to accept any discs. It simply will not load them into the player. Usually the discs automaticly get's "sucked, loaded, pulled" into the player when i put a disc in the slot. But now the player refuses.

What i have done: I have tried gently pushing the cd all the way into the slot, but it ends up me picking it out again.

What i think is the problem (and hope not) : the engine that loads the discs is somehow destroyed it self.

How it started: I pressed eject and the cd came out (my wife's booring catie melua cd) and i inserted one of my own. It loaded it as it usually does but then it stopped and the display says "loading" and after 10 secs the radio turns on. At this point the reject button does not work so i had to gently pick ut out. After this it does not load any new discs

what i am hoping for: some sort of reset/maintenance function
