Dog Guards Again!

Hi all,

We've just bought a 3 dr diesel on a '55 plate and, when the rear seats are taken out, need to keep two flat-coated retrievers from joining the driver and passenger. Therefore, we are looking for a full width, full height mesh guard. Local dealers tell us that no such thing is available for the 3 door model but they seem rather vague and I need convincing. So my questions are:

1. Are they right?

2. When we were looking at buying an earlier model(you always end up spending more!), a salesman at one of the dealers claimed he could sell us a full size guard that fitted behind the front seats. Has anyone any experience of these and, if so, where are the anchor points? Our neighbour works at an engineering works and I'd like to think he could adapt something for us.

Thanks in advance

Hi

Many years ago we had a landcruser and great danes we found a full size dog guard bit it had rubber sucker type feet top and bottom but was a good fit and the dogs never got to do the driving.

Welcome Tridentman

It might be worth sending a PM to Kingo, who's name is "Parts-King". If you send him the chassis number, he should be able to work out whether there is a dog guard and if so, what it's part number is, and the price. The genuine ones are a great fit - if they do one, would recommend you go for it.

Good luck

I fear they could be correct, PM me the chassis number over and I will make sure

Hi, don't know if you have already looked at the ones off the shelf in Halfords, but I have brought one from there that attaches to the headrests, so no marking the roof or floor. It isn't full length, but does go right across my 2003 3 door. They will let you try it for fit before you buy, so may be an idea for you.

Hi there,

Thanks for that. We'd noticed their website after a trawl around Google. We are also considering a custom made crate. Whatever we choose - it won't be cheap!

All the best

John

Hiya, new round here.

We have the three door and are looking at dog guarding options. The trouble with one that goes across the head rest is that when you open the doors, with it being a three door, there's a huge gap and our slippery springer has been known to bolt striaght out. Any solved this issue? Don't really want a full sized crate, need the room in the back for other stuff.
