Manifold Rattle

Hi guys, I have a Corolla 2002 1.6 vvti. Just wondering if any of you have ever had problem with a rattling sound coming from the manifold?

It has had it for quite a long time. I've taken it to two independant garages and they have both sadi that they'd narrowed it down to a

loose flap somewhere in the manifold. They also said that for the money it would cost in labour it wasn't worth repairing as it shouldn't cause any

problems apart from being a little annoying!! Is this true?? Anyone had anything similar??

Common fault mate.....the noise would only get worse, never had any break but i would'nt like to say not change it based on that!

I had manifold rattle but had it sorted under warranty. I wouldnt be able to live with it it did my head in. From what i gather it wasnt a big job when they did it

what sort of sound is it?...i have a rattle coming from the engine area i was thinking it was something like this...mine sounds like a bit of tin vibrating...does this make sense?

and it usually vibrates at low revs as the clutch is brought to the biting point

my mid pipe rattles until its hot?!

that is probably my fault tho, I fitted it!

Uh oh!

Dont want to scare anyone here but I had a similar 'rattling' from my exhaust. Thought it was a loose heatsehild at first, so took it to Mr T. Long story short the rattling was a splitter channel in the section of pipe directly after the manifold. Mr T got an exhaust specialist to look at it and when he did it shattered into a million pieces goin everywhere, including the CAT!

They ended up replacing the whole exhaust from the manifold to the back box (which includes the CAT and resonator) all in all a grands worth of kit. Luckily its all under warranty so no hassle.

Just thought id let u know, as if anyone else has a similar problem it could get quite exspensive so get it checked out!

(car is a 1.8 compressor before anyone asks)
