Corolla 2023 wireless android auto adapter
Chainbreaker replied to Finlandos's topic in Corolla & Corolla Cross Club
As an aside, does anyone know if Toyota will introduce wireless Android auto to the MY23 Corolla via an over the air update in the near future? I'd imagine all the hardware is there since it supports apple wireless carplay. Plus I've heard the MY24 Corollas will come with wireless android auto as standard. -
Force the compass to display on a 2021 Suzuki Swace
Daniel815 replied to Fakecorollaowner's topic in Corolla & Corolla Cross Club
I have searched about the same topic for a while now and it seems not to be possible. I don't have the compass on mine either as I don't have the built-in GPS. I have android auto and HUD in my car. I read in some forums that if you have the built-in GPS and use apple map through the apple Carplay, you will get the directions on the HUD and on the info screen, but not sure. -
The nav is an add on module, these newer systems are designed to be used with a smartphone and either android auto or Apple CarPlay and use online maps like Google Maps, Waze and the like there are ways to use maps offline, this is something TomTom offers with their app

The cheeky reply would be suggesting you connect your phone and use Android Auto or Apple Carplay instead... Are you giving the whole command at once? (e.g. "Hey Toyota, Station, BBC Radio Two") I have found that using the wake words, then waiting for the "listening" indication gives better results (for both the Toyota system and AA). Presumably because it pauses the stereo, thus reducing the background noise. Using the steering wheel button to wake it up is another option.

Corolla Touring 2021 Gr-S or Executive 2019?
Micke14 replied to Micke14's topic in Corolla & Corolla Cross Club
Sorry, thats true. The Gr-s is 2021 and the executive is 2019. Executive has everything in equipment except towbar and GR-S has everything that comes with the gr-s package and the technology package. The GR-S has apple carplay and the Executive doesn't, but that can be set afterwards I think? Executive has panorama roof, " Led-Matrix" white interior and gr-s black interior and no panorama and adaptive suspension or "Led-Matrix" as some ppl call it. Executive Price: 23016.933 GR-S Price: 23885.496 -
Apple car play/Android auto support for 2019 Corolla hatch
FROSTYBALLS replied to Sreeni's topic in Corolla & Corolla Cross Club
Early models of the current Corolla and Rav4 using the MM17 multimedia unit, didn't have Apple Carplay/Android Auto. In 2020, after some delay, a retro fit became available via Toyota dealers, which cost around £120 as a standalone upgrade or around £50 if done with a service. The retro fit wasn't designed to be self installed due to the possibility of bricking the head unit. See: Dealers should still be able to install the upgrade, but costs 3 years later, may be more. The previous generation Yaris didn't have this later head unit, so a Carplay/Auto upgrade isn't available for the Yaris via this route. -

Apple car play/Android auto support for 2019 Corolla hatch
beeblebrox replied to Sreeni's topic in Corolla & Corolla Cross Club
At a Toyota dealer unfortunately. In above search field, type "Retro Fit Apple Carplay & Android Auto" without quotation marks." Topic explains all. -
Since having my MY20 GR Sport, I had the option to select CarPlay on the screen. I rarely drive it now as the wife has claimed it, but when I do get to drive it the option no longer shows. I have tried all advice on YouTube etc but cannot get CarPlay to show. I have never had a dealer upgrade (sat nav maps etc) I hear spoke of. Is that what is needed?

The Corolla's in the UK, year build 2019, did not have 'Android Auto' or 'Apple carplay' and neither were fitted on this model. My Corolla which is January 2020 did not have them either. Your local Toyota dealer will retrofit this for you. Your phone will then work perfectly on fully on your display screen. Google maps, for instance is far superior yo Toyata's poor effort. Prior to fitting Android Auto I was regularly driving across 'fields' on my Toyota satnav. Sorry, offhand I can't remember the price.

Corolla - UK delivery/lead times, etc

Added picture of back end (not so sunny though). Efficiency is amazing all ready. Just did a mixed 20 mile (town, A road and small bit of dual carriageway) with full beans on slip roads and overtakes and got 81 mpg would have been pleased with 45 mpg in skoda. In town getting around 60 mpg on a short 2 mile commute. Skoda would have been low 30 mpg. Dual carriageway/motorway around 55 to 60 mpg. Skoda would have been 45 to 50 mpg A pure A-road run with some build up areas got 73 mpg. Skoda would have been around 45. Acceleration is really fast once you get over the engine noise not being link to road speed. Can get a bit droney from 55 to 70 mph if pulling out from junction or off a roundabout but is over quickly. Skoda was manual turbo petrol so had more mid torque but you were forever changing gear to keep it in range and therefore was less easy on initial pull off compared to Toyota which has the electric on tap . But overall about the same which the 0-60 times would agree with. It say corolla is quieter unless giving it full throttle. Ride is more comfortable but gone from 18 inch on Skoda (was not my choice) to 16 inch on icon. Handling and grip wise appears to corner flatter and hang on for longer. Steering does give less feedback but it is quicker. Cabin and boot space are about the same. Finish on Toyota probably better. Media is much better integrated especially wireless apple carplay Some negatives, finding cruse control controls less intuitive to operate, phone just slides around inbuild charging pad and is slow so been replaced by a cable already, user manual makes little sense. Flappy paddles do nothing with gearbox in sport (unless someone else can explain). Finish in front arm rest storage with flappy carpet was poor (nit picking and fixed with some packaging foam). One thing I can't figure out is what is the area below liftable flap (near rear seats) in the boot for? whole thing does come out to make lower boot deck longer but looks less tidy. It is just extra storage and to make upper boot deck flat? -
You can reboot the infotainment system, I think you press and hold the power button for a few seconds. Alternatively, you could use Apple Maps or Google maps as 2022 has CarPlay and AAuto

As noted above embedded navigation is added via hardware not software: Earlier cars with MM17 No Android auto / Apple carplay: http://www.toyota-tech.eu/aimuploads/00f31a2a-e560-43d7-a3ba-f649b272bb9c/Corolla_HB_TS_SD_RHD_Navigation_PW650_00044_AIM_004_380_3.pdf Later cars with MM19 with AA/ACP: http://www.toyota-tech.eu/aimuploads/247ff818-47e5-445f-9048-83e297c71512/Corolla_HB_TS_SD_Touch_2_with_Go_RHD_PW650_00046_AIM_005_019_2.pdf Parts wise prices are + £1000

2020 Corolla 2.0 Hybrid lacking android auto?
FROSTYBALLS replied to naimen's topic in Corolla & Corolla Cross Club
The retrofit upgrade wasn't available when early Corollas/Rav4s were new. It was introduced around November 2020, and was meant for 2019/2020 models which originally came without Android Auto/Apple Carplay. -

Corolla MY22 built in compass; misbehaving with Waze ?
rederick posted a topic in Corolla & Corolla Cross Club
Anyone else seen this? My MY22 Corolla GR Sport 1.8 has the heads up display, so unless I use the adaptive cruise, the compass is always displayed. This works perfectly using the built in Sat Nav, or Google Maps or Apple Maps via CarPlay, but if I use the Waze sat nav, the compass freezes? Anyone else seen this? I assume a software bug, but not seen any updates yet. Thanks. -
PLawso, To check 2019 corolla has apple carplay/android auto. In site search field, using "topics" search parameter, type "Proof my 2019 touch2 mm17 has been upgraded" with the quotation marks. Hope it helps.

Are you connected to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto too ? If yes , music will not play through Bluetooth

When the current Corolla and Rav4 first went on sale in 2019, neither Apple Carplay nor Android Auto were available on the multimedia units. In late 2020, Toyota introduced a delayed update that was dealer only install. A minority of owners tried to self install the update and a few bricked head unit. From memory, the update cost around £50 if done with a service, or £120 (Corolla)/£150 (Rav4) if done as a standalone appointment. Later models had Carplay/Auto as standard.

Her boss has just messaged to say if the satnav ain't updated, they will pay for apple carplay/Android auto for us
-
There was an Apple Carplay/Android Auto upgrade available for the early Corollas - around £50 if done with a service of £120 if done as a stand alone. If buying from a Toyota dealer, ask them to check if it has been done - if not see how much it would cost or see whether they will do it as part of the sale.

Picked up my new GR Sport 1.8 at start of Jan, so I'm assuming its a 22 MY, but I have a lot of the looks seen in pictures of the 23 MY. The test drive car last summer had physical buttons around a smaller entertainment screen, and I only have the volume control, so not sure! I'm sure I haven't found the right setting, and I always use Apple CarPlay, the Toyota Sat Nav hasn't ever been used. When driving along (music playing) the car will sometimes announce a warning of something ahead, but very quietly. Most often: "Attention: in 1 mile, roadworks". Whilst this is all well and good and clever, can it be turned off? In the same way I've had random beeps, assume they are from the Toyota Sat Nav telling me about something, but with the Car Play system playing music or running Google Maps/Waze/Apple Maps on the screen, its a bit pointless. Thanks!

No. Only Apple CarPlay is wireless - Android Auto is wired.

Listening to CD's in 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross
Don Mac replied to RMSparks's topic in Corolla & Corolla Cross Club
Does that work if you have the phone set for data communication (e.g. Android Auto / Apple Carplay)? I'm sure I read that the car didn't like having more than one storage device connected at a time (somewhere else on this forum). -
Just to inform all... After disconnecting Apple CarPlay on Monday 20th February all my trips have been tracked on the App. So for me (so far...) not having phone connected via CarPlay has actually worked! Now this might be coincidence that Toyota have "fixed" the issue and that i have a new DCM Unit fitted... but until i know further - or even if Toyota actually inform they have fixed the issue - then i'll not connect my phone again. ...perhaps i might connect again on a trial basis and see what happens 🤔
