    Personal profile not loading, etc

I’m still using apple car play every day. After I reset infotainment system and removed the car from CarPlay on my phone. I connected everything again. It’s worked perfectly ever since.

    Personal profile not loading, etc

I had this issue and fixed it last weekend and haven’t had anything since. I reset all settings on my cars infotainment system and at the same time removed my car from Apple CarPlay and then reconnected everything. As I said it’s been nearly a week now and so far so good.
  3. AA does if you force. Apple CarPlay does have this feature at all.
  4. Android Auto is usb cable connected only, wireless is Apple CarPlay only

    Apple iPlayer

If your car doesn't have Apple Carplay, there was an upgrade available from dealers - cost £120 if done as a standalone update or £50 if done with a service. Connection by usb data cable. See:

    New 2023 Corolla announced

Nice design tweaks in the new 2023 Corolla. Especially liking the revised front lighting look and of course the vastly improved infotainment system including new main screen and customisable combimetre. If Toyota has improved the system software including navigation that would be great. If Android Auto / Apple Carplay are built in, then that would be a real winner. (I had a 22-plate CH-R last week as the courtesy car while my Corolla was in to the dealer for its year 2 service. That had Toyota's latest software including navigation. Wow, serious improvements compared to what's in the current Corolla.) One more thing of note - blind spot monitoring at last! The juiced-up power output is welcome, too, although I've been quite happy with what my 1.8 can do. My current 2020 Excel HB reaches the keep-or-move-on point in June 2023. It's been a terrific car and I'm inclined to keep it for a few more years after that. But the improvements Toyota has announced for next year look awfully compelling to me. https://newsroom.toyota.eu/toyota-announces-the-new-2023-corolla/
  7. Just found out, so I'll answer my own question. menu-setup-preferred service, results in options....toyota online/android auto/apple carplay/off. smartdevicelink option is part of upgrade This topic might be useful as proof upgrade is successful for 2019 touch2 mm17 multimedia whilst at the garage. It's a niche audience but useful to know.
  8. Just upgraded to apple carplay/android auto on my 2019 touch2 mm17 system during service for £50. Do not have smartphone yet to test upgrade yet. How do I know if the unit been upgraded correctly by the toyota garage? The multimedia versions over 2021 appear to have a menu-setup- projection option (according to youtube) to switch on/off carplay/android apps. Mine doesn't. I have noticed in menu-apps-incar/smartdevicelink options. Selecting smartdevicelink option results in a blank screen with < (left side) and > (right side) of blank screen Is smartdevicelink option proof of successful upgrade?
  9. Is there an easy/obvious way to tell if the infotainment system supports CarPlay?

    USB ports

Can't comment for Android Auto, but to my knowledge Apple CarPlay disables Bluetooth for other devices. As your profile says you have a 2022 Corolla, if you have an Icon Tech or above model you should have the new multimedia so can still get live traffic using the inbuilt Nav on the inbuilt Sim card. If your music is able to be stored on a USB then that can be plugged into the USB socket and Bluetooth can then attach to your work phone

My Journey to Getting a Corolla

Try holding down the voice control button for a few seconds, doing this used to bring up Siri on Apple CarPlay instead of the cars voice control system. Worked on my MY21 TS.
  12. FROSTYBALLS

    Apple Car Play

Which is the later/upgraded head unit with Apple Carplay/Android Auto as standard. See the following re the retro fit arrangements -
  13. FROSTYBALLS

    Apple Car Play

Depends whether you're asking about new Corollas or used Corollas. When the current Corolla went on sale in 2019, the MM17 multimedia unit didn't have Apple Carplay or Android Auto. A retro fit solution was available from dealers from November 2020 at cost to owners - £120 or £50 when done with a service. So it is possible that some owners of 2019-2020 didn't have the upgrade done, and some of these cars would have entered the used market.

    Infotainment system on 2022 models

It's a completely new system for 2022 called Smart Connect +. The software is different and there are no longer buttons either side of the screen. Wireless Apple Carplay but wired Android Auto. https://mag.toyota.co.uk/2022-corolla-and-c-hr-whats-changed/
  15. The my22 is wireless Apple CarPlay only, Android Auto is still cabled.
  16. On a 1.8 Design hatch a spare wheel is a no cost option, but you do loose boot space. There is no nav on Icon spec so you are restricted to USB cable Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. From Icon Tech and above you get built in nav, wireless Apple CarPlay & USB cable Android Auto. The Icon Tech also includes front and rear parking sensors and keyless entry. Going to a Design the differences are mainly cosmetic, except auto wipers, auto folding mirrors and a self dimming interior mirror
  17. Too bad the only Lexus model comparable to Corolla is Lexus UX, and it has no Apple CarPlay or Android auto, and generally inferior media and hvac controls 😞

    Sat Nav query

Oh, I didn't realise it had changed. I wonder why they bothered given that most of us will probably switch to Android Auto/Apple Carplay?
  19. I had Apple CarPlay added as part of my service a couple of weeks ago and I have fitted the Carlinkit 3.0 wireless adaptor. It works perfectly in my 2019 TS. No noticeable delay with screen commands - and it detects the phone and starts playing / navigating etc within around 20 seconds of car start. Very pleased with the result - as I found having to plug in the phone each time I want to use CarPlay a total non-starter.

Corolla Navigation Unit - UK Models

It’s their new Smart Connect + system which is faster than the Toyota Touch 2, supports wireless Apple CarPlay (android remains wired) and it’s a new UI. First introduced into the Yaris Cross, the buttons are gone. The Cross can have a 9 inch screen, however the Corolla can only have the 8 inch screen, which means we get the larger black bezels. In my opinion, I think this is still a good size and a great advance on the Toyota touch system which was incredibly dated and slow.
  21. I have an iPhone but it won’t be an issue its the same Apple CarPlay protocol
  22. Hi all, I have a 2019 Corolla. I know I can pay to have the more updated infotainment system which has apple carplay / android auto - BUT does anyone know if the latest and greatest connected services system can be retrofitted? I have seen them in the 2022 corollas and they look great, are fast and high res. Anyone got any knowledge around this? Cheers

    MY22 Corolla announced

Vertical with 13 pin socket. It is primarily for the bike carrier rather than towing - much easier than lifting the bikes onto the roof. I used TomTom Go via Apple CarPlay for the first time today - really impressed with it.
  25. Back in spring, I filled out a web form to test drive a 2.0 TS out of curiosity because I've started searching for a daily driver since the FJ Cruiser's monstrosity isn't fit for a small Spanish town. It is a bit of a story about how I ended up here with the FJ, and I could get into details if anybody cares. To my surprise, a day later, someone called from local Toyota and offered a test drive in about a week. It turns out they shipped a brand new 2.0 TS from somewhere else in Spain for me to test drive. I was very impressed with handling and dynamics, something I had never expected from a Toyota, now that I owned and drove a few. Then later in summer, I got a quotation on a top trim with a sunroof. Upon revisiting the dealer to pay my deposit, something has changed internally, and I was no longer able to spec it with Pear White (which in turn made choosing Manhattan Grey easier). Sunroof now came in a package with leather, heated back seats and, HUD. They have also downsized to 17" from the 18" wheels. Overall, about one grand difference. I was able to negotiate roof bars and rubber floor mats all around without a price increase. Finally, it is here, sadly not an MY22 as I was hoping but perhaps not a bad thing as I do like physical buttons on the multimedia and only use Apple Carplay. So far had about 150km of motorways and 75 in the city, my overall Hybrid Score is 86, and my average fuel consumption is 5.9 l/100km (47.8 UK MPG). I expected a slightly better figure, but it is still a lot better than 15 liters/100km in the FJ. The weather didn't drop below 10 C, so it isn't particularly cold. I am completely in love with the car; there's some getting used to, as "virtual" parking sensors are screaming at me when I'm getting to my spot in my narrow parking garage. Dislike how light the key is; it just feels very cheap. I ordered a metal cover from Aliexpress to solve this problem. Also wish there was a way to scroll between tank consumption and trip consumption. Other than that, enjoying all bells and whistles, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist make for a very relaxing drive on the motorway. I think dropping it into Eco mode helps. Kick sensor is nice and fun when opening the boot. I haven't tested the matrix headlights yet, but they do this cool light run when the car starts up. BSM and RCTA are pretty useful. I am not even going to try the auto parking feature. P.s. I've tried to keep it short, clearly I have failed 🙂
