I am in the middle of upgrading the rear license plate lights to a brighter LED and it all works fine except... I cannot for the life of me get the clear plastic lens back over the housing!! Does it click into place or what? I cant drive anywhere until I can fix this or it will just fall off.... help!! lol

Why did you remove the lens from the housing in the first place?

The lights are pushed into a fitting and that fitting has a twistlock into

the back of the housing. I'm afraid a loose lens means you broke it :o

Yep you're right, I followed the guide on here and when I put the screwdriver in to pry it out the lens came off on both occasions! I didnt realise you had to keep the whole casing intact.

Took it to my dealer and they said same thing and guess what, £33 to replace them both!! No chance! lol

Anyway, I bought some Loctite and sealed it all back together and it's now fine, new bright LED's look awesome too!

Some nice pics before and after would have been nice. lol

So do you have to get underneath the bumper to remove the lights, and not pry off the clear plastic lenses. Sorry, but this thread still aint clear what you have to do?

You can't go underneath, as the actual METAL bumper

will be in the way of you reaching the lights.

I've had some nasty experiences with these lights too,

as the dealer that sold me the car installed a license plate with a

moulding around it. This moulding sits atop the lights making it

impossible to remove them as described in the manual. I actually

have to use a KNIFE and TWO screwdrivers to get them out...
