Toyota Avensis Verson Turbo Problems

Guys ready to pull my hair out here NEED HELP

Bought this Toyota Avensis Verso for the family 2 years ago Car Reg 2005. After purchase the engine light came on whilst driving and car lost power immediately. Had to switch of engine for a few seconds then turn on again and car went but engine light stayed on for a day then it eventually went off. I have been having this intermitt problem for the past 2 years, the car has been serviced etc and mechanic said dignostic machine is sayin new turbo needed !!

Any other suggestions because if it was turbo surely there would be black smoke etc and car runs sometimes for a few months without the problem appearing and then appears for a few days ! help please

Worth getting it diagnosed by another place - a Toyota dealer or a Toyota specialist. If they agree then you have my sympathy. On the bright side it seems reconditioned units aren't too expensive.

I don't think it is the turbo, more likely vacuum valve or a problem with the EGR valve on a D4D engine If the turbo had failed it wouldn't be ok for months. Get another garage to look at it, as Druid Boy says take it to a Toyota garage for a second opinion.

start from:

- EGR

- SCV

- fuel filter/air escaping

do not blame with turbo so far :)
