Hi everyone, i`m new to the forum, a quick question, i`m looking to buy this yaris 2003 d4d with 60,000 on the clock. It drives really well there is just one noise, it`s like an engine rattle that only occurs between idle and 3000 rpm when in gear, cannot hear it when not in gear. Over 3000rpm engine sounds super smoooth. Any ideas if this could just be a diesel noise or something serious?
Thanks
Tom

It's hard to say without experiencing it; Could be the timing chain needs retentioning?
Mine's developed some new weird noises every time the temp dips; I suspect it's a bearing or the ancillaries belt in my case tho' and it's more of a rhythmic squeaking sound than a rattle!

Actuall, the more i think about it, the noise was more of a ticking noise, not a rattle, if this changes anything.
