As with a lot of people, i am finding the Speakers are begining to crackle and disintergrate,

Are there any replacement Speakers ie pioneer, jvc or the like that can be put in the front doors without any mods such as wooden frame etc... just wanted to bolt new ones in one the rivets have been removed off the old one. ?? was prepared to spend £30 to £40 for each speaker

Regards

Merv

Due to the unique Toyota Speakers install in the car, you will have to do slight modifications for any replacement Speakers.

Check my posts in my profile on my installation.

The best way to install replacement Speakers is to use 6mm or 9mm mdf as spacers/baffles, cutting the shapes by using the old speakers as templates. If you don't make the spacers, you obviously will foul the windows, and the sound will lack bass.

I installed 6.5" JBL's in all four doors. And they sit nicely behind the door cards. I used 6mm mdf which gave the clearance I need for the windows, and the doors cards.

You will need to drill new holes in the metal frame of the door and use self tapping screws.

It is not difficult to do, but the result are worth it.
