Fuel Flap

Wondering if anyone can help.

My fuel flap keeps popping open all the time,I've had a quick look and the pin is moving back and forth and sticks out a good 10mm but it doesn't seem to engage the catch on the back of the flap properly.

It seems to just engage but as soon as you close a door or touch the hinge side of the flap it pops open it also never sits flush.

Is there a way to adjust the pin so it sticks out more or is it just a case of bending the catch on the back of the flap?

It's a mk3 t180

Thanks.

Though my fuel flap doesn't pop open, I recently noticed that it didn't sit fully flush and remedied this with a little judicious bending adjustment of the catch part Mike. Is the flap spring springy?

Thanks for the replies.

The spring is spot on and I've a feeling it has been replaced when I bought the car as the flap wouldn't pop open when the salesman went to fill up.

I was going to start bending stuff but thought better of it.

I'll give it ago one night and let you know how I get on.

Thanks again.
