Yaris 2000 1.0 Stereo Adapter Problem

Hi all,

I've followed an guide on the internet (here) to install a aftermarket stereo into my Yaris (currently only has a cassette player).

The stereo I purchased (this one) didn't fit so I had to cut part of the face of it (fits now).

The guide said I'd need an ISO Adapter Loom to make the car's current wires compatible with the new stereo.

The problem is that the 16 pin adapter (pictured below) will not fit the port on my new stereo (pictured below the adapter) which fits 12 pin.

It came with an adapter that fits but it has bare wires on the other end.

Is my only solution buying the adapter, cutting the wires and attaching them to the adapter that came with my stereo?

Please excuse any incorrect technical references, I know very little about cars/electronics.

Any help is very much appreciated.
