Hello people,

My AC has stopped working on my Corolla D4D, so I think I need to regass it. Does anyone know:

(i) how much it costs

(ii) where to go to get it regassed

(iii) how long till I have to regass it again?

Thanks

:help2:

Most Toyota dealers will do an air conditioning service for around £49 - this includes checking for leaks, and if the system is leak free, a re-gas with the correct mixture of refrigerant and oil. Using a anti-bacterial cleaner for the vents, etc adds about another £10.

If you use the air conditioning throughout the year (at least once a week to keep the system seals lubricated, etc), don't see why the re-gas shouldn't last a reasonable amount of time.

Using the air con with some heat is an excellent way to demist in winter, and can also heat up the inside of the vehicle quicker than using just the heat/fan alone.

You have a choice of where to take it, your local garage might do it, or look up for a specialised Air Con workshop, usually one or two in every town.

Also many of the tyre places now have auto refill machines, my local ATS had one when I was in there last year, think it was about £46

You can buy kits to refill it yourself, Halfords sell one but probably easier and as cheap to let someone do it for you.

A proper refill service should also check your system does not have a leak before refilling.

I've recently had mine done at F1 Autocentre, £39. Standard procedure done in an hour. Seems ok, demists well and cools me down (more effective if i direct the vent at me). The system is ok for the type of car and its age.

Thank you so much guys for the informative responses

I think I'll just take it down to the local toyota centre, hopefully it wont be much more than ~£50.
