Hi,

What do people suggest in the way of a dash cam?

What is the deal with GPS readout, etc..? I guess it confirms the location of any incident/accident, but is it required?

I want something with wide angle view, great resolution.

The Which? Best Buys were (in descending order) the Nextbase IN-car Cam 402G Professional, GoPro Hero3, and the Transcend DrivePro 200.

I got this one, Transcend 16 GB Drive Pro 220 Car Video Recorder with GPS, and am very pleased with it. Works great and has a couple of extra "tricks" up its sleeves...

Pistonheads has a forum thread about the pros and cons of different models.

Techmoan has a website with reviews.

I'm using a Mobius which has been ultra reliable, plugged into the armrest power socket with a long usb lead hidden under trim.

I use a combination of Transcend DrivePro 200 and a £30 twin camera unit to get rear view also.

I've had a unit with GPS previously, but it holds no real benefit in the event of a collision in my option, and isn't something I feel the need to specifically have with my camera setup.
