Warning Light

Got an Auris 1.6 (2011) recently and a really nice car. However noticed that the Main warning light seems to stay on when switching off ( the orange triangle). There is no message above it. It first came on when the low petrol warning light was on, along with the red Power steering light which seemed to stay on longer, although it has now cleared up. The warning light doesn't come on when driving, but only when turning the engine off. Is that normal, as I hadn't noticed it previously?
