Outside temperature display showing –E

I have some problems with my outside temperature sensor. I have work fine until one week ago, it suddenly showing -30 C° and it is summer I Denmark so it’s clearly showing wrong. But when I was driving yesterday, after about a hour driving it showing –E, and nothing else in the temperature display. I can live whit the temperature sensor doesn’t work. But I’m worried over its showing –E. Is the –E any alarm code? Or is it the temperature sensor and display just broke and showing wrong?

It is on a Toyota Corolla 1,6 from 1998 with automatic transmission

Its probably a faulty sensor or connector, so think those are the items to check first

Expect you will find it located somewhere behind the front bumper, on the later models its right in the middle, but be careful that you do not mistake it for the front crash sensors etc.
