Is it a straightforward swap to replace the 5 speed box in an 08 1.4 d4d Auris with the 2010-2012 6 speed box? Thanks

As far as I'm aware, the 6 speed gearbox on the 1.4D4D was introduced as part of the Optimal Drive improvements from late 2008.

The wife had a 5 speed 1.4 diesel Yaris, when I was driving it I was always looking to change into 6th.

The I got a 1.4 diesel Yaris with 6 speed box, much better.

Whether a changeover as you enquiring about is possible I dont know.

I am also considering it, but cant find any info.

I would first investigate the RPM difference between the two.

I was thinking of doing the same for the 1.6 gasoline one, but then i saw the difference being only around 200 rpm's, and consumption on highway was more or less the same, so not worth it.
