Castle Combe

I thought it maybe useful if people attending trackdays could place a picture of the track and a description of a typical lap.

I guess I’ll start the ball rolling…

Castle Combe

Length: 1.85 miles / 3.0 Kilometres

Tyre Wear: Slight

Brake Wear: Medium

Fun: High

Typical Lap

After leaving the pit lane you go straight into Folly, a nice sweeping right hander into a slight rise where you can keep your foot flat to the floor and is the fastest section of the track, you’ll need to reduce your speed while on this hil ready for the left handed turn into the Apex Rise, if you go in to quick here you’ll be pushing your luck to get around Quarry.

Quarry is the one corner on Combe where you really have to be careful as if you make a mistake here there’s a very good chance you’ll be saying hello to the Armco, if you have the speed right you can plant your foot down and drift straight through Quarry and keep your foot planted up to the Esses which is the first chicane.

The Esses chicane is a sharp tuck in to the left followed by a sharp nip out to the right, personally this is my favourite corner on the track and if you get this right you’ll be smiling ear to ear, great fun, loads of grip and some quick steering needed. If you come out of the Esses properly you can keep your foot down through the next left turn “Old Paddock Bend” and keep it down until the end of Hammerdown straight where you’ll be braking very heavily for the 90 degree right Tower Corner.

Once through Tower a very quick heavy right foot will bring you nicely upto Bobbies, the second left-right chicane which again is great fun when you get it right and your then through to keep your foot through down the Westway and Dean Straight ready to drop your speed a tad into Camp Corner.

Once through Camp, plant your foot heavily to the ground for the pit straight, leading up to Follies and you can start all over again….

Combe is a superb track, great fun and loads of run off space (apart from Quarry) in case to make a pigs ear of it….

Definitely worth a visit. !!!

Hope this helps a bit :D :D :D
