Toyota Tvss Iv-s Alarm Trouble 97 Corolla

I have the above alarm system on 97 Corolla 1.6 LE (under 10k from new!). How do you reset the alarm module itself?

Recently, it's taken to spurious alarm sounding, sometimes almost impossible to switch off. The locks frequently suddenly lock themselves when working on the car (fob locations known and no one near them), the alarm sounds and is next to impossible to stop. I reversed out of the drive this morning and the alarm went off despite key in engine running and moving!

Clue may be that we had the main car Battery replaced recently although the alarm was silent throughout that - doors open, key in ignition.

We now leave the car with just the door key turned otherwise it tends to go off in the middle of the night if fully alarmed.

Other than that, it's a great little car that's served well. Had a 93 Celica for 4 years as well.

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like one of the door/boot sensors could be faulty?

The spontaneous locking could be that if the car thinks all the doors are closed and you unlock it with the fob then if none of the doors are opened within X seconds (can't remember) the car locks and re-primes the alarm. My Corolla does this because the drivers side sensor has failed (thinks the door is closed all the time), if I unlock with the fob and take my time getting in and putting the key in the ignition the system locks and when I out the key in the alarm goes off!

Try opening one door/boot at a time and see if the interior lights go on/off as they should (set them to door).

Can't remember if the bonnet has a sensor - that wouldn't do the lights but would do the alarm.

HTH.
