Koni Dampers

Am finally getting round to fitting my Koni dampers and TTE Springs this weekend.

Am not worried bout playing about with the front dampers as they are easy enough to adjust and see what feels right.

With the backs being a PITA to adjust (I don’t want to have the back wheels off 5 times to get it something like I want) I was just wondering how people who have got them have them set up??

I'm thinking of setting them full stiffness then backing them off half a turn, bear in mind I do about 400 miles a week with a good chunk of that being motorway driving so need a compromise between being good for the back roads and motorway cruising.

Cheers

Tom

Set them as Stiff and Low as you can, for maximum fun :D

and in that respect, motorways should be fine as smoothish roads, just avoid pot holes ;)

Aye, go for full stiffness, it'll handle like it's on rails then! :D

Probably just kidding myself that I dont want them set as firm as they can go!

just that i struggle to pull them back so cant really imagine what the rebound will be like on the car? -or complete lack of!

I have only ever had shortened gas shocks and lowered springs on other cars so have never really had to worry about tweaking it before.

Come on...... must be a few on here that have them fitted -give me a clue!

How low can you set the koni suspension kit??

The Dampers Have got nothing to do with how low it is, it depends on what springs you have on.

You can only adjust the damping rate on the Koni's.

My old Koni's only had front adjustment for the damping rate. I just set them as hard as they would go! You get used to whatever setting you've got after a while anyways

you mean you didnt read the instructions :D

i have it set on the stuffiest all round,if im doing a lot motorway jorney i put the front two on softest as you only "really" feel the front stiffness, theres not that much diff anyway.

Also. if you do alot of driving alone, set the front drivers side a quarter turn more stiffer than the left (a tip i got from some dude in america lol)

Fitted them this afternoon, apart from my tall sockets only going up to 21mm and having to go out to get a 22mm one it all went well.

Decided to set them as stiff as possible all round in the end and having just been out for a drive think i made the right decision! Think the fronts need to settle a bit but the back seems sat in the arches already.

Il say cheers to Knightrider for the shocks and Macca.17 for the springs, only had the springs since september and the shocks since december last year!

Do you have yours set like that?? I get the reasoning to a point but still dont like the idea of having different settings across an axle.

not done it yet, quarter turn is hardly a difference though tbh

No, thats true.

Would be interested to know how you find it if you do end up trying it.
