Newbie Question

I'm new to this board but have been driving Toyotas for over 25 years. I currently have a 2003 Tacoma 4x4 and a 2001 Corolla. My question is related to the Corolla.

The Corolla has daytime running lights. It was my understanding that DRL were supposed to burn at reduced wattage. But, when I turn my lights on (dim) I see no difference in performance between dim and DTR. My dim lights are VERY dim - almost too dim to drive with. My bright lights seem to work okay.

Are my lights working correctly? Aren't DRL supposed to be dimmer than headlights (dim) - reduced wattage? What can I do to get better dim headlight driving?

I suppose I could put stronger bulbs in my fog lights. But, I hate to meet vehicles with strong fog or any other kind of light.

I"d appreciate any help... bob
