guys and girls a quick question

a 140 vvti with 18" rims, tinted windows, aftermarket front and back bumper, side skirts, bonnet scoop, full leathers, air bags including side air bags, air con on a w reg...how much is it worth roughly

and how much would it be worth if it had the st205 engine under the hood.

am asking cos i seem to be having a few probs and always wanted some serious power under the hood.

cheers peeps

You are talking serious money to put a GT4 engine under there... also unless you are planning on doing the full fensport 4wd approach all the power to the front wheels.... better off getting a GT4!

Easier just getting a VVTLI engine.. pretty much direct replacement and get lift.

i spoke to fensport re this a few month back, they have the vvti kicking out over 600 bhp, it cost them over 80 k (well thats what they told me) well any way, they said they wont do it for me but they put me in touch with a bloke who does engine conversions.

I got qouted 2 grand but thats not including the parts. it is serious money. if i wasn't so skint i probably would

well any way, my cars gone in the garage today to find out if it is the head gasket thats the problem or not (pls be something minor)

wish me luck

All the best man... you need to consider that 250bhp in standard form going through the front wheels maybe a bit too much.

I was considering a similar conversion on a Celica GT i had but then was talked out of it due to the hassle to make it worthwhile would outweigh the benifits of the finished results.

salaam fizz,

the vvti/vvtl-i looks great but has no guts.

i use to have the st185 and raced a 190, wasnt really a race much to my surprise, (didnt race on a public road)

i'm thinking if i do get it done would i be able to get my money back when i sell it. if not then i may have to get the 190 and stick with a few simple mods

if only they had the same power as the st205

w/salaam bro,

I remember ya bought the back box off me all those many moons ago for the ST185 (i think it was you  ).

With regards to getting your monies back on a car with an engive conversion you can fotget it... lol Modded cars you loose on always and especially with the conversion costs.

Either get a 190 or a ST205. :P

They dont have the vvti kicking out 600bhp.. they have the 3Sge kicking out 600bhp!

tbh it has been proven on newcelica.org that a VVTLI can output in excess of 500 bhp if you wack a great big turbo in it and run over 15psi of boost.

the st205 is a heavy car, esp with its 4wd transmission.... for a decent run about get a VVTLI and supercharge it, which imo gives it the much needed torque.

Or even better get a supercharged VVTLI engine right out of the box in a lotus elise... so if you can live with a small car go for one of those! (and use the wife/ gf practical car for a daily commute)

fizz, u remember re the box, my god that was big, although it didnt sound as loud as i expected, still had a deep sound to it.

good news.. just got back from the garage, they told me they think its my thermostat thats causing the problem and not the head gasket.......hope they're right.

bad news my cousins getting married and i need to go to his wedding abroad which will cost me a pretty penny so i may be selling it once this work is carried out... she could be sold in 2 weeks.

good news, when i come back i'll start saving up for the 190
