Air Con Service

Just wondering what your views are towards air-con servicing. How often should it be done? Every 2 years? 3 years? Never?!

I rarely use mine but was offered a service and a re-gas for £90 by my local dealer. I'm sure I've read that it's never as cold after a re-gas but it's more the servicing side I'm thinking about. Is it worth it? Is it a complicated system which needs attention? What would a service involve?

I'm thinking (as with most things) if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

My air con doesn't get very cold, so I've been thinking about getting it done too. My hubby has a 350z (2002, so similar age to my car) and when he had his re-gassed, it made a huge difference to how cold it got. Don't know if it's the same system though. My garage (Jap specialist, but not a Toyota garage) charges £40 for a re-gas.

A/C servicing is more than just a re-gas

You should USE your A/C at least once a week for a few minuets a week to keep the seals oiled and flexible

An A/C service will remove the old gas, fill it back up with new gas AND the correct amount of oil which is VERY important. Expect to pay about £75 to £95, this should also include a sanitizer used inside the car to kill the bacteria in the air vents, and a new pollen filter

After an A/C service your A/C WILL be colder, whoever said it wouldn't be doesn't know what they are talking about. We measure the min temp before and after servicing it so you know how much it has improved, the whole idea is to improve the performance of it, not make it worse

Kingo
