Audio Help Needed!

Hi All,

I'm new here and need some advice. I have a 1999 Yaris and wanted to fit a cd player as fed up with long journeys where the radio stations keep cutting out. I bought a cd player and a neighbour (mechanic) thinks it will be very difficult to fit due to the existing fascia and awkward wiring. He thinks it may be possible but would be alot of hassle and I would lose the temperature and time visual display. Can anyone offer some useful advice for a straightforward way to update my cars audio facilities?

Check the pinned items in the Yaris forum; There's a HowTo's one that has useful info on fitting a CD player.

It is possible to replace the other one, but you need to get a replacement face plate.

That alternative is to stick it in the slot near the bottom of the center console, but the guides have more info on this.

One downside of a new CD player headunit is that steering wheel controls probably won't work, but you can get MP3 players that plug into the existing head unit and are controlled like CD changers via the existing controls.

They're a bit pricey 'tho...
