  2. Sounds a bit strange that the system would not recognise 0/20 and even stranger he says their system says 5/40 is the specified grade for your 1.33 You have to wonder based on that if they are using 5/40 for all such vehicles and where that info came from. Its all hassle you can do without but I think its something that needs challenging. From 'Money Saving Expert' https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6045586/convince-me-not-to-use-kwik-fit-ats-etc/p2 Unless you can prove to yourself its 0/20 you are always going to wonder.

  8. The Welsh Government is using satellites to spy on homeowners with big gardens, as it seeks to overhaul council tax Families who live in areas with good schools or lower crime rates are among those who will be hit with higher council tax bills, under plans being drawn up by the Senedd. The Labour run Welsh Government says it will introduce higher council tax bands and higher tax band rates to address “property wealth” and “rebalance” the current system. Sir Keir Starmer has insisted that a Labour government will not raise taxes. But he has also said that the Welsh Government is a “blueprint” for “what Labour can do across the UK. Paul, when you open your own dealership, please can I visit?
  10. Yeah, I am pretty good with cars and always keep an eye on the dash. Never had a light on, or issue with the temperature. Also I used to be a musician and have very good hearing, so no strange new noise remains unheard, all rattles too(unfortunately) @Rhymes with Paris Can't really complain from the dealer so far, apart of this issue. Can't give them any credit, though. Looking after 2 vans Nissan NV400 at work- their dealers are tragic. Been to 3 different and always had problems with them. As soon as they see a business vehicles they open the calculator and keep adding ££. Once was charged for an aircon service - well both vans don't have aircons. I am also 1000% sure last service they didn't change the oil at all on one of them. They expect no one will check as it is a business vehicle

    Yaris Cross spare wheel

Ok, I have been doing a bit more online research in regards to using a space saver wheel with a AWD SUV and from what I've read, I think if I want a wheel in case of a flat, I'm better off just trying to get a full size spare!!

Have you ever met anyone famous

Met quite a few myself. Had dinner with a well know Friends cast member, lunch with a well known British Racing driver, and often visited the house of a well known survival TV personality amongst others. Have shaken hands with Senior politicians, and met radio presenters and pop stars. Just like @Bernard Foy, I'm not going to mention any names for fear of boasting.
  13. The second trying to kill the engine, the first trying to kill you. Nice...
  14. The climate control in my Corolla it is set up so that AC starts when I press Auto. But it can be configured so that ventilation / heater will start when pressing Auto without the AC coming on. Efficient Ventilation Mode can also be set to On or Off. Its all in the Vehicle Settings.

    Dashboard lights explainer

If you want to determine the exact cause, you need to scan for trouble codes. There could be many reasons. Only diagnostics will tell. if the problem occurs in at least one of these blocks, corresponding light's will be illuminated. ABS - If a fault develops in any part of the ABS, a warning light will usually be illuminated on the vehicle instrument panel, and the ABS will be disabled until the fault is rectified. TRAC and VSC refer to traction control and electronic stability control, respectively. These are systems that are designed to prevent the vehicle skidding or otherwise coming out of control. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-lock_braking_system https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_stability_control https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traction_control_system

    Excel vs Premiere Edition

No problem I'm going to assume you are referring to the timing chain. I think I am right in saying that Toyota has not produced an engine using a timing belt for over 30 years...

    Hello everyone

Hi Zvonko, welcome lots of good advice when you need it and always welcome when you give it.

    What are those harneses for?

Yeah, still a good idea to check,or in my case get someone a bit younger and bendy to check mechanics work. Not a car, but I bought a brand new Kawasaki bike in 2002, and the simple first oil change was by the dealer. The belly pan under the filter and drain plug had not been removed (4 bolts,5 minutes) and it was full of oil. Not a good thing, oil all over the underside of the bike, and on the rear tyre. So gave up on the dealer, and got a mobile chappy to do the next one,had to stop him starting the engine after him carefully draining the oil, and fitting a new filter. Trouble was he forgot to put new the oil back in.

    Headunit keeps flickering

Hi Regwan, it sounds like a loose connection somewhere that is causing this problem so hopefully Toyota will be able to resolve this for you. Unfortunately under the warranty exclusions it doesn't cover the multimedia system screen and buttons. However it would be unlikely considering your car isn't that old that it would need replacing. Let us know how you get on.Hope this helps.
  20. Completely agree. At a guess, I would say that, for whatever reason, a tech was doing something in the engine compartment with the car in Ready mode. It would probably be a standard safety procedure to disconnect the fans because they could start at any time. Said tech forgot to reconnect the fans when they had finished. On subsequent visits there may not have been any need to disconnect the fans and none of the techs even looked at the connectors. All human error. I think that your 22 model has an engine coolant temperature gauge? Assuming that it has been working all this time, you would have been given plenty of warning if the engine was overheating. Not just the gauge but probably warning lights and text warnings as well. No warnings, no worries.

    Excel vs Premiere Edition

Premiere has a contrasting black roof. With global warming a white roof would be more practical.

Automatic High beam is not working

The Toyota garage informed me that the Automatic Main Beam feature is not speed dependend but, when I check the Manual, I find that this feature only works above 30kmh. Consequently, it is impossible to carry out static testing.

    Dash Cams

In my first C-HR I had mine hardwired by the Dealer (cost of £95.00) although I supplied the hardwire kit and camera. My current C-HR came with a Dashcam as part of the negotiated deal (also fitted by the Dealer). The Nextbase comes with a power cable that can be plugged into the lighter accessory socket, making it a plug and play arrangement

    New Yaris vs Honda Jazz

Personally, I would not even consider buying any make of car from a dealer that did not provide freshly brewed coffee made from freshly ground beans preferably Illy, and spring water. Lavazza at a push maybe, and Demerara sugar to put in it. Hopefully some fresh baked Madeleines too made by a genuine French patisserie, and flown in by light plane that morning. Some might think this is a bit over the top, but considering the amount of leg lifting and gouging that goes on, I don't think it would be out of the way to offer an aromatherapy massage aswell.
  26. About 37 years ago I was at a meeting to discuss colour displays, elevation, and heading orientated map with always up text. At the time colour was limited to 16 colours, elevation to 100m data points, and always up text pushing tge computing limits. The elevation aspiration was 10m data points. In no time at all, 65k colour and always up text became available at pocket money prices. If you trace a route on Google Earth you can also display the elevation profile. What was impossible 30 years ago, feasible 25 years ago, needed a computer 15 years ago is now in your pocket today.
