    Roads

We spent many happy days camping in North Yorkshire. Once. When we were on a campsite in Crakehall, we were visiting nearby Masham, and a scene from Heartbeat was being shot in Market Place. Along with perhaps a hundred others we saw the scene shot three times. First time, a woman carrying her shopping walked straight through the set. Next ‘take’, a police constable (character’s name Jeff, I think) stops to speak to a woman with a pram, when his Panda car, parked nearby, was stolen by a “criminal”, and with a gangly run Jeff shouted “Hoy” and chased after the car. We all laughed, and it was picked up on the sound track. One of the film crew came over to us and said, “If hear the funniest thing you ever heard, PLEASE don’t laugh. So third ‘take’ was acted. Just at the end, a customer walked out of The Bruce Arms (just up from where the Panda car had been parked) wearing clothing totally unsuitable for time of the drama. On checking the ‘take’ the director said “cut” had already happened, and the film crew and actors visibly relaxed.

    handbrake code c13a7

if the car is worth so little to you, scrap it, the handbrake is a complete unit used they go for £300 or £800+ new you need the correct one for your car as well, the only thing you can do is inspect the cable ends and that the calliper is working how it should if the pads and discs are worn badly the handbrake will not apply - lack of maintenance c1201 is more than likely the ECU not being able to talk the handbrake whats a common code with C13A7
  4. Hello all, I understand the Yaris (mine is an Excel) comes with Predictive Efficient Drive, which according to Toyota: Learns driving patterns to increase deceleration and regenerative braking in places where one usually decelerates (the green leaves which appear in the sat nav) Has Predictive state-of-charge control (SOC), which when the sat nav is on can read the road ahead (uphill vs downhill, traffic,...) and optimize batter charging and discharging to maximize EV operation and minimize fuel consumption My question is: has anyone ever experimented with the Predictive state-of-charge control to understand if fuel consumption is effectively lower, and by how much? If that is the case, then I would start using the in-built sat nav more often (even if I don't really need directions; I can always mute it). Thank you all!

ABS warning light and no Power steering

Thanks for info. But now i think i have a completly different issue. The day i had ABS sensor issue; on the way back from office i barely managed to drive back home. After i have ABS warning, i also got battery warning light and wen i checked the battery voltage then i got a battery voltage of 6 volts only and i then replaced the battery with another battery then i can start the car and I did not got ABS sensor warning but when i checked battery voltage with another battery i can measure 12 Volts only so I think the generator is not charging the battery so something is wrong with charging system. I googled and found out that there is a fuse for generator but it is placed under the fuse box which is difficult to access. Does anyone know how to access generator /Charging fuse as i think this could be the issue. (Fused is marked with circle in attached attachment)

    New Yaris

Yaris MY24 here (same colour and spec as yours). You can't turn it off permanently. It is like that for all EU cars after 2024. Fortunately, it is less annoying than I thought it would be.

    Elections

There are a few who go the extra distance to do a good job. And these probably attend regular surgeries in their electoral districts. Perhaps we should sympathise with these MPs, who attempt to serve their public well, when their good intentions are thwarted by useless rabble with whom they share their party banner.

    New Yaris

It is worse than that because in practice it is likely to be repeatedly turned off, thereby preventing an audible warning when more significant speeding has occurred.

    Hi From Ginchy

Nice to see a few members thanks as it will be interesting to see how the next few years as a member pans out again, having the MR2 turbo was a lot of fun and I met lots of members going through there racing car phase 🙂 , now older I still love driving and the Rav4 does help the old back these days plus the Plugin Hybrid still has that sporty feel and drives well too.

    handbrake code c13a7

Hi all hope you’re well, i have a 2011 avensis 2.0 d4d. the handbrake throws this code, when parked facing up a slope it starts beeping exclamation mark and parking brake red light flashes saying release handbrake. when i release it, the “whir” goes on for longer and it says check hand brake system and the exclamation mark next to the odometer stays solid and the yellow parking brake light stays illuminated. i have this issue when disengaging and it won’t let me reengage the handbrake. however, if i take the key out and put it back in and the car is on a less steep slope (steep being my driveway like 10 degrees if that) it engages disengages reengages normally. i have been priced up £620 for an actuator from ebay and for a car not even worth £800, i dont have more than £100 to throw at it. if anyone knows how to resolve or a part number to replace i would greatly appreciate it. the two codes are c13a7 (actuator) and c1201 (engine control system malfunction). many thanks in advance :)

    12v battery maintenance

Logic suggests to me that the converse would be the case - connect the jump start pack and immediately press the brake pedal and Start button to get into Ready mode. You'd want to get into Ready mode and not attempt to charge the 12V auxiliary battery. Once you are in Ready mode the 12V auxiliary battery will be charged from the traction battery. 👍 The jump start pack will have a relatively small capacity so if you leave it connected to a relatively discharged 12V auxiliary battery for any significant length of time it will dump all its available charge into the battery leaving neither with sufficient voltage to get into Ready mode. 👎 Or, at least, that's how it would appear to me ... 😉
  14. I thought it was you that said it!
  15. i take it is a manual and you have pulled the drive shafts, did you also unbolt the centre bearing on the back of the block to pull the shaft out of the box

2001 Yaris - Brake Load Valve

can you PM me your VIN
  17. If its a Toyota and reasonably new or new, the complete service history is in the MyT app, but it does not breakdown it EXACTLY what was done, if it was a repair or something. As long as there is a paper service record book, I'm keeping it and ensuring its stamped.👍
  18. My daughters 2001 Yaris recently failed its MOT. The garage explained that the brake load valve is faulty. They said it's the one with a spring located by the passenger side rear wheel. The only replacement part I can find is a genuine part from Japan that seems very expensive. I've tried breakers but no one seems to have one. Does anyone know where I can get one for a reasonable price or if there is a service kit to repair the original. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Prius Alpha Won At Auction

So to hear that happened. Hopefully you get your money back soon and can buy another car. Would you share the auction side with us to look for cars ourselves, not that I will buy any but just out of interest what is up for sale from Japan. Thanks
  20. Had another thought:- Being as you have a gap between the gearbox and engine faces, how about inserting a couple of decent prybar's on either side of the gap and applying pressure using them as levers against the edges. Strikes me if it's just not coming out freely perhaps there's a circlip on the end of the input shaft thats causing the issue if it's not corrosion. MMmm, cancel the circlip thing, just looked at a used gearbox on eBay and the input shaft is just plain splines. Could the release bearing have siezed/fused onto the clutch? Brute force likely your only option whatever is holding it.
  21. Nothing will happen if you brim your car full, it’s all myths like many others. All that can happen is to pay more to the garage than actually have to, every extra click . Just stop refill after first click and you are good to go. Accurate fuel consumption, full tank and no unnecessary worries about your fuel system. With weather warming up the efficiency is growing too, last refill 482 miles, I noticed that with new batteries both hybrid and 12v the engine stays off for much longer , but this is still under monitoring and will write about in another post when I have more miles and better look on it 🙂

    New Yaris

I must admit, there are certain defeat options that should be done away with like engine stop that won’t meet emissions standards without it but this thing dinging away when you breech the limit by even one mile per hour is a pain.

    New Yaris

So far they’ve locked this one down Tony. It’s new legislation that calls for some form of speed warning or limitation.

LPG conversion: is it worth it?

LPG brings along issues and complications. Others may have converted their cars and share only positive results, but save the negatives for themselves. I will not trust anyone how good is to drive on lpg , I know from personal experience, it is not worth it, similar to any other type of car modification. But if you really want to try , you can do so and have an lpg installed and enjoy cheaper fuel. For me the best is the simplest.

    Toyota Yaris (Underneath check)

It’s the factory coating that stops the boot floor resonating. As Tony says it’s not pretty but your car would be very noisy without it.
