    Correct Oil?

Strange, I thought they came with Continental's from the factory. They usually design the suspension and geometry with a specific brand an model in mind so fitting a different brand can result in a different ride characteristic or wear pattern.

Road Sign Assist speed limit beeping

🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦 This is really really going to annoy the **** out of me. Wonder how it's implemented on other cars?
  5. Some folks saying that even switching to visual only warning on the new model is not permanent. It switches back. Could do with a definitive answer.

send trip or location, new c-hr

Hi, The user manual indicates that it is possible to send location or trip information from a phone using the NaviBridge app. Has anyone successfully done this? Despite my phone being paired, the app reports that there is no connection. Regards, V

    New Yaris vs Honda Jazz

A bit paranoid? If you don't want to give the actual county pick one adjacent - not random, but not much help with tracking. But I don't entirely disagree with your stance. There should be a 'UK' or maybe the four countries options. I often give a somewhat false DoB and/or address on sites that clearly have no need to know or ask for that info.

    PHEV wheel corrosion

No sign on mine. 20k miles. Washed it probably no more than 5 times in the last 2.5 years. 😂
  9. Well, we have been talking about battery and my one has died today. 🪫🪦 The symptoms above I had for over 3 years now and no surprises it died today after 13.5 years and 273000 miles covered. Off to Toyota tomorrow for a new battery but if they don’t have then will buy just anything of this size and specs, perhaps from Eurocarparts. The agm batteries seems been fitted for longevity rather than safety as been discussed here many times before. Most new Toyota cars comes with non agm and batteries are often fitted inside the car under the rear seat so I don’t see an issue to have a Bosch standard battery instead of Yuassa agm. Left on charger for overnight to see if I can use the car to go get new battery or i may need to use a transport.

    My New Toy😄

It doesn't look like the Solid White, so must be pearlescent white.. white was on my shortlist, so either would have been fine.

    Suble ticking noise

Hi there, Definitely don't think it's the valves. I could be wrong. To me it's lower on the engine. Looks like there is an egr cooler on top to the right. And the noise looks below this and to the back. I know you can get ticking noises as such from a malfunctioning egr solenoid etc. Or from leaking exhaust manifold gaskets etc. it's really hard to pin point as it's only really noticeable when driving. If you rev the engine with the bonnet open it's hard to hear it as well. Anyway just suggesting these things. Could be valves, but from my past experiences I wouldn't say so. And the noise is not at the front of the engine to be the valve gear. Happy to check the valves this weekend. And I'll investigate other things. It's not impacting the performance. Just the noise is discerning.

    12v battery maintenance

Modern chargers do seem to be able to get some decent life back into a seemingly defunct 12v battery. The other car in the family is an EV which locked me out one day, all electrics dead. Recharged with a charger I had had a number of years and all OK for a month, then dead again. Bit the bullet and got a modern charger (NOCO) and recharged for a few hours, worked OK but dead again after a month or so. Put it on charge for a couple of days and no problems for the last two years. All recharges done on the bench using the default setting. With the current RAV4 the battery in the boot means that you can hook up a charger to a portable power station (campers/country dwellers) so no trailing cables.

    Hi from Portugal

Hi Flavio, Welcome to our forum. Congratulations on your new coming Yaris.... Very popular cars for long years now. I had the 2016 hybrid, great saving in fuel, specially if you leave the EV button on. I am tall and big guy, and did get in and out, and fit in well inside it..... You will love it...

RAV4 GR Sport PHEV how to adjust speed limit warnings

The Speedo is fast by 3mph at 30mph. 6 or 7 mph at 70. According to the GPS calibration I've done.

High mileage 5th gen buying advice?

There is a good article in AutoExpress this week on buying a second hand 5th gen RAV4. I have had two Toyotas go well over 100000 miles with no problems with reliability, just one exhaust replacement needed. These are extremely well screwed together cars and the current RAV4 just carries on the tradition. We have come back from a 1500 mile trip over quite a variety of roads and this edition is just so comfortable and sure footed.

    2.0 hybrid judder /missfire

Prius EGR system was cleaned at about 140,000 after that I started doing engine flushes and the only time I looked again was at 350,000 when head gasket failed... I intended cleaning it then but it wasn't worth messing with as EGR ports were relatively clean... Sold car at 400,000 still running fine with no noticeable oil consumption between changes.

IVA test drive and temp insurance

Having imported many cars over the years, my experience is this: Get the car insured on the VIN for the first 30 days, starting from the day you plan to collect from the port. If you collect it from the port, you can drive it directly to a pre-booked MOT, then back home once the MOT is passed. As soon as the DVLA allocate your reg no, inform your insurer who will update your policy. The hardest part tends to be finding an insurer who insures on the VIN - not as many around as their used to be. In recent years I have used admiral, direct line and a-plan, all of who did.

    RAV4 or Across?

It’s a coin toss decision unless the additional warranty is important. Perhaps if buying on finance the interest rate may swing it too? If neither of those bother you then go for the best deal. Dont worry about the Suzuki not having sat nav, its rubbish so you ain’t missing anything!
