Hi

I am just investigating a vareity of ipod integration kits (the ones that run from the CD changer port as want to keep the steering wheel control function).

Before I Shell out just wanted any top tips and also wondered does anyone know if the standard Auris stereo (13805) has this function?

Am looking at

http://www.incaripod.com/Vehicle/Toyota/DI...Kit#description

or

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/p...ts_id/6279.html

Comments / suggestions or better products welcome

Cheers

Amanda :-)

Hello Amanda!

I suggest you to send a PM to Parts-King and ask for original Toyota iPod cable, I'm sure you'll get some good discount!

Just one option... :)

Best regards, Alex

One iPod adapter that has got very good reviews is the one from Xcarlink:

I have to add that I haven't tried this yet as I haven't quite bought my Auris, but I suspect this is the adapter that I will have installed in mine. From what I can tell it is better than the Toyota adapter and significantly cheaper.

It does seem to be better... On the Youtube videos, the Toyota one seems to lag when changing songs.. Whereas the Xcarlink one does not..

I think i'll buy one! :D

This may be a basic question but how do you disconnect the ipod from a car interface box? Do you simply pull the cable out or do you have to 'eject' it. Is it basically like a home speaker dock where you can plug in and out at will?

I went for the xcarlink box and the hardest part of fitting was pulling out the upper glovebox for cutting access for the cable. The 1st hole was drilled tight in the corner of the removable shelf which was then pulled out to cut a hidden slot and a big hole for the plug. The shelf goes back in at an angle so the cable can be fitted and the shelf carefully shoved back in making a hole at the end of the slot. I didnt have any grommits which would have made a better job. I did the same for fitting an aux cable above the ipod cable but didnt take a photo, its the same process but just 10mm higher up!

Hi Amanda

which kit did you go for please, are you happy with it, would you buy the same again or different if you were buying now?

I will have some specific questions if you did buy either of the units you mentioned in your original post.

Cheers
