Corolla 1.3 Heavy On Fuel.

My 1997 1.3 Corolla EE111 seems to be quite heavy on the fuel. I'd say a tenner is lasting just under 50 miles. I take two passengers to and from work so it's got a bit of weight in it but still, I should get better economy than that. Anybody have any ideas as to what could be behind this?

Something that may or may not be relavent is that often at lower speeds in 3rd gear the car begins to lose power like it's about to stall forcing me to change into second. It also seems to idle at very low revs and judders.

I'm also wondering if anybody can tell me how much fuel I've got once the orange light comes on?

Hi, have you serviced the car recently, doing the air filter,oil fitler and fuel filter too? could be that this or one of the vacuum pipe could be clogged up?
