ok well iav had this problem with my car for about 2 years now,

was very annoying, i asked every tom, diick and harry but nobody had ever come across it before.

when it started happening the engine management light came on and toyota said it was the fuel pump, €2000, na your grand thanks

so about two months ago the problem changed, instead of her cutting out i was loosing power, would be driving along ,go to accelerate and nout,

i would have to pull in and rev the diddys out of her, ild get a few puffs of black smoke and away again

so i thought enough is enough, i had her in drogheda diesels already but he just put it on computer, had it in ardee diesel aswell and he did the same, everyone said they could do test but i didnt want anyone messing with my baby

so about 3 weeks ago i said something has to be done, i booked it into drogheda diesel foe tests, he found nothing and sent me to judge motors

this lad used to work for toyota in drogheda, he had it for a day and found nothing.

he then sent me to diesel engineering services, in shercock, they do all the repair work for toyota that they cant do themselves

so brought it up 2 weeks ago, wed 16th, as each day went by i was on the phone to see what was happening but they too could find nothing wrong

so on the mon he said all tests where coming back ok, meaning diesel itself

so they took the tank out and therewas alot of dirt in it, he reconed it was ther a few years,(well daaa, i know this has been going on for 2 years) pump was worn aswell so they put in a new one, ran a few tests again and all is good

sorry i know most people wont know these places, i posted this on an irish forum snd just copied it over !!

so the dionognois is : there was dirt in the tank that was cutting off fuel supply causing it to cut out,

about two months the pump then began working overtime to make up for the bad fuel supply and was feeding to much to the engine, causeing it to flood and loose trottle, the black smoke was me burning off excess fuel

i got the car back wed 23rd, so after one week one tests and a new fuel pump later, my baby is flying again
