my recent ae82 wont stop revving up and down, at first i thought it needs water topping up, still no difference, then i changed thermostat and radiator still no different, and also no warm heaters only cold and sometimes a little warmish

any solutions i can try??

the engine has had a rebuild in the past and i hope nothing was missed out due to this problem.

any help is really appreciated, thanks.

what kind of revving up and down is it? hunting at idle? or under load?

i'f it's hunting at idle it may be the lambda sensor.

right, i changed the water thermo sensor ( the old one had a hole in it) and also changed some inlet air pipes, this seems to have cured the revving , but i still dont have any warm heating.

i found on my 4age, it was the idle up valve which stayed open which caused the over revving, cured it completely. what do you mean by warm heating?

heaters are not getting hot, only cold.

can you physically see the heater valve operating in the engine bay? if not the cable may be broken.

I had this same problem on my last Ae82, I did everything you've listed in this thread and after a couple of days I got the dreaded sound of clanking followed by a blown head gasket :(
