Squealing Noise When Accelerating

Hi everyone, I have a Rav 4 2002 manual diesel, and a couple of days ago, it started to make a wierd noise when accelerating, it's in our local garage at the moment, but mechanic is struggling to work out what it is. Also a few weeks ago the speedometer didn't work for a whole day, and then started to work again. We are based in France so anyone who has had similar problems please let us know as I need to understand!

Had dual mass flywheel replaced last year, so hoping this new problem is going to be cheap!

Just another thought

When I bought mine it made a weird 'percolating' noise like a squealing dying bird under the bonnet when accelerating. Always at low revs when the turbo was kicking in, the noise would go when it got into the higher rev range.

It turned out to be the drive belt slipping-changed the belt and no more problems.

Regards.
