hey everyone!

im looking for some advice as a friend of mine has a 2003 corolla and just brought it to the dealer for a oil change and came out with a 900$ quote for repair (900$ canadian)

they say that the oil pressure sensor is leaking. i think this shouldnt be a issue for me to fix but has anyone else had this issue?

also they say brakes need replaced, again something i can tackle. they want over 300$ incase your wondering!

the 3rd thing they say is that the crankshaft oil seal is leaking. now im not NEW to cars and ive worked on my own for over 8 years but i never had to replace anything like this. my question is on the corolla is it a real big job to replace that seal? how would it be done, and are there any websites with pictures or detailed instructions.

any help appreciated.

I depends if it is the front or rear crankshaft seal.

If it is the rear, it means gearbox, flywheel and clucth off.

If its the front should be v-belt off and crankshaft pulley off.

Hope this helps.

Matt.

yeah actually i took a look at it myself, it was supposedly just the pulley side and its leaking, but not enough to justify fixing.

only took 125$ to get the car up and running again. :D
