Gear Knob

Recommended Posts

Ok i had enough of the stupid paint flaking on my gear knob.

I took the knob off the lever and took the painted part off from the rest of the knob and sanded it down to the bare plastic.

I have decided on silver as it matches the heater controls, i also did red but was not too sure on it.

I shall take better photo's tomoz but it gives you an idea.

Not too keen on the red....

Was it easy to take apart? Only ask as mine has been flaking for ages!

Did the same to mine but went for chrome paint as it goes with the interior better.

Make sure you laquer it otherwise it will peel and chip worse than it was.

It took two seconds to take apart,

Remove the gear knob, look at the bottom part of the knob (the bit the screws onto the lever) you will see a phillips screw remove it and the pull the top part with the numbers away from the gear knob.

A small flat bladed screwdriver comes in handy.

I have not laqured yet as i have used the hammerite hammered silver , the same i used for the calipets lol.

I really like the effect you get from the paint.
