Front Lower Ball Joint

Has anyone here worked at getting the control arm off a 1994 Celica GTFour WRC? I have the piece connected to the car off but the ball joint is stuck in pretty tight. People tell me to hit the side with a hammer, use a pry bar. I have been trying for days to get it out and it just isn't working. Someone please help me. I just bught the car and want to drive before summer is over :)

Thanks

You may be in the wrong forum here in the Avensis Club but the priciple of separating ball joints is universal. Although striking both sides of the outer casing simultaneously with two hammers sometimes works the best way is to purchase a ball joint separating tool that has a claw supporting the arm whilst a screw down bolt pushes the tapered piece out.
