Vvti P1349 Malfunction

2003 Corrola 1.6

Just bought this car with 66k on the clock. Serviced by local garage in Oct' and stood unused until mid Dec'.

After driving about 20 miles the EMC light came on and then went out the next day.

I spoke with the garage that service it and they offered to run a fault check.

The EMC light is erraticly on and off.

I have checked the Oil Control Valve filter is spotless and the Oil Control Valve resistance is correct.

What now?

Are the OCV liable to stick? Is it worth taking it out.

Can i check operation by applying a voltage to it?

Are there known faults arrising with this system?

Is it software?

Take it to Toyota?
