Broken Oil Stick Tube

Hi,

Today my Avensis (1.6L petrol engine) was serviced at 90.000km. The service said that the oil check tube had a major crack and needs to be replaced. Pulled out the oil check dipstick and the upper half of the oil check tube came with it - tube is broken now. The stick is goes into the remaining half of the tube, but the tube is basically broken. My question is : is it safe to drive with a broken oil check tube ? I can get it replaced only in 10 days...

Sounds like a job for a good degreaser and a nice splodge of chemical metal to bond it all back together. Give it all 24 hours to set and no worries from there.

The sane thing has just happened to my 2005 1.8 avensis!

Does any one know what the part number is or how much a dealer costs to replace?

Thanks

Adam
