Delivery

I recently ordered an Urban Cruiser. The dealer told me that the car was at sea

and gave me a delivery date early May. Recently I have been given a delivery

date in mid-May.

I can understand, with sympathy, if there were a delay with a completed car on

land, but why a delay with a car at sea?

Telling you that the car is 'At sea' is like saying the 'cheque is in the post'

you've got around 6 weeks sailing time from Japan to Uk (provided you dont get hijacked in the indian ocean), add on customs clearance plus any option packs being added to it , uk transport etc . You've also got weather at sea to contend with, political instability where the vessels have to refuel, it's a long way from japan without refueling (egypt caused a few headaches, apprently the port was closed). Felixstowe port can be prolematical with high winds causing delays to offloading . The list on what could possibly delay a vessel at sea is pretty much a long one, early may to mid may you might just be talking 5-6 days. But being at sea when you ordered it probarbly means, not loaded yet , and if it was back end of last week more likely means not happening yet.

Totally agree Aktiman, I would imagine that as from last Friday there as been a suspension of all Toyota,s made in Japan. This certaily rules out Rav4,s and Urbancruisers I doubt there is a lead time for deliveries now
