Low Emission London

I've read that most of London will be covered by a low emission zone with much more stringent limits from January 2012. On the face of it, this means that if we use our 1994 diesel Hi-Ace campervan to load up all the troops and go and see the relatives we'll be slapped with a £100 per day bill. Ok, so it's a good excuse to get out of going to see them  but even so....

Does anyone have any ideas about the possibilities of reducing the emissions on a HiAce of this age? Or are we doomed to only taking sensible family cars to London if we want to do something radical like drive? The alternative of being forced to take train, bus, tube is not ideal with an easily bored, very anxious 6-year old country boy.....

Well it seems that public transport will be much cheaper for you and cleaner for us Londoners

London's a ****hole anyway, you're not missing much

But you should be able to get a filter conversion done which will get you under the limit.

Or get a new car :D

Thanks for all the responses...I think....

Got a letter about it through DVLA yesterday, Big Brother really is watching you. I wonder if everyone in the country with a vehicle that sits in the high emmission category got one of those, or those spy cameras on the roads took my licence plate last time I took the old jalopy into London?

It's a conspiracy man....
