Hi

Just another of my ideas...i understand its something that i dont really need but im curious...I've seen an Electrochromatic mirror for sale off another Rolla...just the mirror and no wiring...Im wondering how its connected up? I assume it may involve 2 wires to power it only? Any ideas/suggestions? ;)

For those T Spirit owners out there...do you ever use this function?

along with my hid headlights, tints and the mirror these 3 things i cannot drive without now. i feel naked in a car without tinted windows, without hid headlights i can't see sh*t on the road and the best of the 3 the mirror dazzle-preventer thingy is just invaluable!

it has a sensor on the front which i assume detects bright headlights behind you and as such dims the mirror so i would assume the electronics are inside the mirror and hence the only external wiring it would require is power and earth?

having said this in my car the mounting of the mirror to the windscreen also doubles up as the rain detector for the wipers. knowing car manufacturers currently they probably integrated the functions just to make it difficult for the hobbyist/amateur mechanic so i can't say if you can just buy one and slap it on. seriously though i love it and if you can make it work on your car i would definately suggest you get one.

Hey All,

Never thought about retro fitting an EC mirror, though it would be good to have one.

Were they ever an extra / fitted on the Corolla and available from Toyota as a spare.

Guess it was a good idea and something useful to have...glad you all thought so too...

Yup, got both the rain sensor and the EC mirror on my E12. Both excellent options on my T-Spirit. I think the mirror has been all but permanently on since I bought the car new 6 years ago lol Tried switching it off out of curiosity a couple of times and wouldn't be without it!
