Steering Creaking

Discovered a creaking the other day. Sounds like its either behind the dash or in the exhaust tunnel. Happened to move steering wheel slightly while stationery & it appears to be related to that.

Any ideas?

Are you sure that it is not in the steering column itself?

My Yaris did it occasionally. I unclipped the adjuster for rake and distance and pulled the wheel in and out several times. That cured it.

I'll give it a try, does sound around that area. Suppose if it doesnt get moved much the grease starts drying out on bits of it

Tried moving steering column but noise still there. Sounds like its at the start of the exhaust tunnel
